NTU Scholarships Guide (Part 1)
A polished English guide to NTU scholarships, covering the NTU-USP Scholarship and the CN Yang Scholars Programme, including benefits and conditions.
1. NTU-University Scholars Programme (NTU-USP) Scholarship
The NTU-USP Scholarship is awarded to outstanding freshmen admitted to Nanyang Technological University’s University Scholars Programme.
Requirements:
- Open to students of all nationalities;
- Admitted to an NTU undergraduate degree programme;
- Hold a high school diploma or above;
- Have a strong record of co-curricular involvement;
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential.
Scholarship benefits:
The NTU-USP Scholarship covers the normal duration of the programme, provided the scholar maintains good academic standing and exemplary conduct.
- Full tuition fees, after tuition grant.
- Living allowance of SGD 6,500 per academic year.
- Accommodation allowance of up to SGD 2,000 per academic year, applicable only to scholars living in NTU halls.
- A one-time computer allowance of SGD 1,750.
- A travel grant of up to SGD 5,000 for overseas study or internship programmes, subject to the terms and conditions of the travel grant table.
- Overseas benefits for the NTU-USP overseas study or NTU exchange semester.
Other than the three-year bond applicable to all Singapore Permanent Residents and international students under the Ministry of Education Tuition Grant scheme, the NTU-USP Scholarship carries no additional bond.
Conditions:
- Scholars may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, bursary, university loan, or award without the University’s approval.
- Scholars must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 out of 5.0. Academic performance will be reviewed each semester.
- The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if the University deems the scholar’s progress or conduct unsatisfactory.
- If a scholar chooses to terminate the scholarship early, repayment will be required.
2. CN Yang Scholars Programme
The CN Yang Scholars Programme is awarded to outstanding freshmen in science and engineering. The CNYSP develops future leaders at the intersection of science and engineering, with a focus on technological innovation and scientific communication.

Scholarship benefits:
The scholarship covers the normal duration of the programme, provided the scholar maintains good academic standing and exemplary conduct.

Living allowance of SGD 6,500 per academic year.

Accommodation allowance of up to SGD 2,000 per academic year (applicable only to scholars living in NTU halls).

A travel grant of up to SGD 5,000 for overseas programmes, subject to the terms and conditions of the travel grant table.

The CN Yang Scholarship Programme also provides:
Four years of guaranteed accommodation in NTU student halls -
One guaranteed overseas exchange semester

A guaranteed overseas final-year research project, including airfare, accommodation, meals, insurance, and visa fees

Opportunities for research internships starting from Year 1, as well as opportunities to attend funded international conferences
Other than the three-year bond applicable to all Singapore Permanent Residents and international students under the Ministry of Education Tuition Grant scheme, the scholarship carries no additional bond.

- If you are no longer studying in a science or engineering field, the scholarship will be terminated.
- Scholars may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, bursary, university loan, or award without the University’s approval.
- Scholars must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 out of 5.0. Academic performance will be reviewed each semester.
- Scholars must serve as student ambassadors or in any other similar role, representing the University in outreach talks, guest receptions, and similar activities when required.
- The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if the University deems the scholar’s progress or conduct unsatisfactory.
- If a scholar chooses to terminate the scholarship early, repayment will be required.
